Whew. Looks like WWG dodged a bullet!
It was nearly 3 weeks to the day, since I embarked on the "journey" in an attempt to keep the domain registered and this site up and running.
Most of it was spent stuck in a revolving door without an exit. By a stroke of luck, I located a Google "chat room" and decided that we had nothing to loose. I described the issues, and waited. And waited... A couple of days later, I was contacted by someone in the know at Google, who reviewed the website and passed the problem (not unknown to Google - I've since found out that what I'd run into is not an isolated issue), up the ladder
I was assigned a Google account specialist by the name of Wilfredo
Alexander a week ago. He had a fairly thick accent, which I'd attribute to
Mexico, or further south.
I've dealt with outsourced tech support before
and my first (albeit redneck) thought was, here we go again...
Turns out, he was like a dog with a bone. He would not let go, and
would not accept failure as an option. He knew how the Google system worked,
how to do end arounds when we hit a wall, and he kept at it relentlessly. It took several days, but as of late last week, he and I were able to reset everything, migrate the account to
their new "system", and keep WWG
up and running, as is and without loss of data, permanently; (well, that is until Costco gets their panties in a twist again and does away with their current credit card like they did Am Ex).
Some settings have been changed, and it's going to take a bit of fine tuning for me to get things working perfectly, but we dodged a bullet!
Thank you to all who expressed support and offered ideas!
And a special thanks to Wilfredo!
